Predicting and Infuencing Gender

Will it Be a Boy or a Girl? Predicting and Influencing Gender

Can Timing of Intercourse Influence Gender Outcome?

At conception, gender is determined by chromosome characteristics - and it will be the male (or rather the male's sperm) that dictates whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.

Prior to conception, the unfertilized egg carries an X chromosome while the sperm can carry either an X or a Y chromosome. The gender of the baby comes down to one simple event:

If the sperm carrying an X chromosome fertilizes the egg, a girl will be conceived. If the sperm carrying a Y chromosome fertilizes the egg, a boy will be conceived.

Timing Intercourse

Studies indicate that the sperm with the X chromosome - or female chromosome - have a longer life span than the male sperm (with the Y chromosome).

Yet the male sperm appear to have a higher motility. Sperm motility is measured in two ways: percentage of sperm exhibiting movement, and the quality - or dynamics - of this movement, which is called the forward progression. Poor motility means the sperm have a difficult time swimming toward the egg. FertilAid for Men is a non-prescription male fertility supplement that has been shown to improve sperm motility.

Hence, "female sperm" exhibit less motility - yet have a longer life span. The "male sperm" exhibit increased motility, but have a shorter life span than the X chromosome sperm.

It is believed that if intercourse takes place closer to ovulation, then the probability is greater that the child will be male, due to the high motility (forward progression) and the decreased life span of the sperm.

The sperm with the X chromosome - or female chromosome - have a longer life span than the male sperm, but exhibit decreased motility. Therefore, intercourse that takes place earlier may provide increased probability of a girl.

hi this is mamta i have one girl of 2.5 yrs and conceived again a girl but had a mis carriage on 7 may my periods were on 11 june i want to conceive a boy this yr pls guide me

what is the best ph leve for having a girl? and what is the best strips to use i have to kindas but eighter really change froma 6 dose that mean my ph is and should i test the vagil wall or my pee?

After having 6 girls my partner and I finally had our son Dec 08...We used the sheattles method(sp). For boy you should start having sex on or as near to your ovulation as possible, for girl maybe a little earlier...14 days after the 1st day of your last period is when you should ovulate if you have regular 28day periods or 16days if you have a 32day cycle...

Eg.. LMP 28th may then you should ovulate on or around the 10th June if your a 28day cycle so for boy try to have sex from around the 8th,10th, june I would'nt recommend sex everyday as the sperm count will decrease, It's best to have sex every 2nd day so the day you dont have sex it gives the sperms time to build up in numbers again, for a girl you could start having sex from about the 4th,6th,8th..

If your a 32day cycle then youd ovulate on or around the 13th June(that would be about the 16th day after your LMP... So boy making would be around 14th,16th June & girl would be 12th14th16th June...

Well this theory worked for me & after having 6 girls in a row Im inclined to think this method does work...

Best of luck...

hi my lmp is 4th june2010.wat is the best time to concieve a boy.

hi i got 2 little lads and would love a little girl.. i went on a ovulation calander today and seen im due to ovulate 8th i had sex today well early hrs of today at 12am (tuesday 4th) can i end up regnant so close to ovualtion starting iv read that if you have sex 3-4 days prior to ovulation, you have a better chance of conceiving a girl, because the weaker male sperm cells will die off, and the female sperm cells will be available in greater quantity when the egg is released. is this true am i likely to get pg

I have two boys and i am looking for a baby girl, when is the best time to have sex

I just found out in preg with our 4th baby, We have 3 boys! would realy love a girl but the desisoin has already been made now so i just wait till i hav 20week scan or when baby born.
Just keep trying to get pregnant it will happen, relax and enjoy the trying time Laughing out loud Getting preg u would think is easy as so many people hetr prg by accident but theres only a small % (cant remember what ) of 2 healthy people getting preg in 1 mth. Good luck x
