So has anyone decided on a birth control method for after the little one is born? I'm thinking about the Implanon, which is an implant in the upper arm. Once we get back to the states DH is getting the snip snip. I had the Mirena before and can share my experience if anyone is interested in that method...

I am scared to go back on BC after all the trouble TTC coming off it. Well, really I got really lucky actually, it only took us 3 cycles to get pregnant after coming off, but my period was all wacky and just from all the stories from people who really do have a hard time after coming off of it, I don't think I want to subject myself to that. I think we will just do the "pull and pray" method
. We know we want more kids, so if they come a little earlier than we originally planned because of it, then I guess that is what was meant to be.

Bethany, I want to know more about Mirena, I was thinking about it. My body does not do well on hormonal BC so I am hoping it will not mess with me too much...

DH really wants me to get my tubes tied during the c-section but I am really reluctant to put my body through anything else after this pregnancy. Plus, I found out today that I have a complete placenta previa. Dr said I could possibly need a blood transfusion during the delivery. So I really dont want to go thru anything else. I am trying to convince DH to get the snip snip but he is such a BIG baby about it and is afraid it could affect his "performance." I don't do well on hormonal birth control either and I am terrible about remembering to take a pill. But we know this is our last pregnancy so we need to do something preventative. I still have several months to try and convince DH to do the snip!!!
But Im curious as to what everyone is else thinking of doing. I would do Markelle's method if I were going to have other children. B/c I have heard so many horror stories too about coming off of BC and TTC.

Kim, they are not going to let you deliver vaginally are they?! When I had previa, I was told that if it did not move I would have a c-section.... if I remember correctly you are having one too right? I can't keep all these births straight....

Kim, I wouldn't get the tubes tied. I haven't really heard of any good coming from it and I've heard that years later it just results in a hysterectomy anyways...there is something called Ensure that I know is permanent, but I don't have any details on it, saw a pamphlet for it at my Dr.s office.

I also don't do well with BC. I was hospitalized because of it -- and have decided I will NEVER go on it EVER again. Too afraid to risk going through that again. WEre also doing the pull out method - not the most reliable.. but the only thing that can result from it is being pregnant. But no other risks or side effects. I still want babies too --- and thinking about a second one next yr. hahaha. Depends on our financial status then. But i'm dying to go back to work but there's no way i'm gonna put Alex in a daycare. hmmm...we'll see how I feel in a yr.

I've started thinking about this too actually. I really like being on the DEPO, however it did take me a year to get preggers after getting off, well after doing my last shot, so that was a little too long for my liking. I've tried several pills but I seem to get yeast infections from most of them, like steady, so that's no fun either. Maybe after this pregnancy my body will change enough that I can try some other pill, but I'm for sure going to have to use something. I think we're wanting to have more kids, my husband said that we'll see how this one goes, which is fine with me I didn't have a set number in mind. I guess the BC will be something I have to talk to the doc about, but I was kinda looking at the mirena thing since it's on tv.

Something to keep in mind is that only progestrone only BC can be used if you want to breastfeed. I think this only includes the mini-pill (very strict, pill must be taken at the same time everyday, outside of the 30 minute window and you have to use back-up method), mirena, paragaurd, depo-shot, and implanon. there may be others but this is all i've heard of.
