as of now i am still off of it . but may end up back on it as to i been dealing with a migrain for a week now and let me say OTC meds dont cut it at all.Sometimes i wonder whats wrong with my head that it hurts so badly. I go back to my doctor tomorrow ugh check up time blah never exciting but i have to talk to her about my migrains and now i'm craving ice really really bad its going on two weeks now i'm eating more ice then drinking any fluids which i know cant be good.
Shortcake - Sorry to hear about your migraines! I know how exhausting it gets to be in pain day after day. I hope if you are still TTC you can avoid going back on Topa. I agree OTCs do NOTHING! They might as well be candy. Have you tried any other meds not for just prevention but for the headaches themselves? There are some good ones that you can take when you know you aren't PG yet.
Lisa - LOL I LOVE the BITA method idea! I am definately going to try it. We actually usually do BD that way anyway because missionary is too hard on DH's knees, but usually I just lay down and do the pillow prop afterward, so I'll change it up and keep my fingers crossed!
Hello ,ladies well i went to my doctors appt last friday and well my doctor put me back on the topamax i havent started it yet tho. i had to have a CBC done tho because i stress to her how i'm eating ice like crazy i spend all day eating it and she said i may be anemic and well she called today with the results and i am so on the 17th i have to go back in for more blood work to find out whats causing it. and on top of that i'm late by a day on my cycle which i dont know what to make of it stress ,being anemic or what my last cycle was jan.29th. and my doctor told me to take a H.P.T in a day or two but my nerves got the best of me and i took one asap today it was neg. so i guess its just me wishing in a way. Well Ladies i hope everyone is having a good week TC.
Can you try any other preventatives so you can still TTC? They have me on altenalol, which they actually put me on for high BP, but I know it is used also as a migraine preventative. I think it has been helping at least a little for me. Also do you know about staying out of rebound? ie, not taking any OTCs, pain meds or Triptans etc more than 2-3 times a week? It is SUPER easy for me to fall into rebound, so if I take more meds than that in a week I end up with more headaches. Anyway, I'm sure you may already know all this, but I have done tons and tons of research on migraines, so if you have questions feel free to ask!
Hello again well AF came at last its been so horrible and painful. But at the same time just a little upsetting but its ok. At this point i would reather be in better health then i am right now i really need to get the migrains under control and get my anemic issues taken care of i so dread more blood test and needles i look like a pin cusion after they are done with me depending on if they can hit a vain the first time or not most of the time they can't lol. As for the migrain i try very hard to deal with it if its not to bad but when it gets to it mark of i cant do much but put a pillow over my head and hope it helps i try to get my DH to rub the feet sounds weird but in some ways it helps there is just something about my feet but if the migrain is pasted the painful point to making me sick i give up. thats when i have to call my doctor and she most the time tells me to get to the ER. Because last time i went 6 months with a migrain that made me sick for 6 months nonstop i lost 30 pds in a 2 week period it was so bad. so now if it gets that bad off to the ER she tells me to go. i dont like taking meds if i dont have to but right now its a have to.i'm takin 25 mgs of topamax a day but by monday i will be up to 50mgs a day. I have tryed everything just about for the migrains and so far only topamaxs is working for me.
Stacey, I'm so sorry to hear about both about AF coming to visit and your experiance with migraines!!
I agree, Topamax has been the only consistent thing that has worked for me too, so it sounds like you are making the right choice to get back on and get things under control. I know what you mean about feeling like a pin cushion too! They always say I must be dehydrated because they can't get a vein.
The feet rubbing actually makes sense, I know this sounds a little new agey but my DH actually looked into some pressure point stuff and we have found some on my feet, hands and head that actually really help when he rubs them. I was super skeptical, but hey I will take it if it works, plus I get some nice time with hubby!
Well hang in there, I really hope the Topa does the trick and you can get healthy again, that is the most important! Take Care,
Orchid , i am the same way when it come to having blood taken they tell me to drink a lot of water ummmm well i drink as much as i can till i feel like its gonna come out my ears and it still doesn't help me any i have been stuck up to 9 times just to find a vain mine blow so easy.By time i get home i'm all brused.
But in order to find out whats causing me to be anemic i have to grrrrrrrrr be a pin cusion i just hope its nothing bad. However i did read that if you have a loss of blood thats pretty bad it can cause you to be anemic and when i lost my son i ended up losing 2 liters of blood. but i would think by now all that would be bulid back up and normal again. But i'm pretty clueless on it i dont know how true it is. Just gotta wait it out. As you can tell i'm not the waiting kinda person lol. Well i hope all is good.
Sorry to hear they still haven't figured out the anemia issue! Are you back on Topamax? I ended up deciding to go back on too. I just started back on last night, so I have a migraine today, but I'm hoping it will start kicking in soon! We are doing some fertility testing and I'm charting my BBT for for the first time this month, so I still feel like I'm being proactive even if we aren't actively TTCing right now. My plan is this will just be a break and then we can start trying again.
Jayne,
I just found your thread... I totally can relate!!! I have struggled with migraines since childhood, HATE THEM!!! I get them incredibly frequently. I have never been on a preventive medicine, have tried all sorts of meds for them though. More recently, I started acupuncture as well. A good friend (who also struggles with them) and I have both been told independently of each other that migraines could be related to sinus/deviated septum or allergy issues too... I had a severely deviated septum that I had surgery for in January, I'm still recovering but the doctor was hopeful it could help with the migraines. I am going to talk to an allergist too and a nutritionist. I think (HOPE) using some of those methods will be beneficial to keep them in check when/if I ever do get PG, because I'm scared to death of dealing with migraines for 9 months and not being able to take meds. I have headaches practically every day. For whatever it's worth...
My DH and I have been TTC for 17 cycles now... it's so draining and hard when you have to make so many changes/sacrifices for the sake of TTC. I'm glad to hear you're starting to be proactive with charting and stuff, because that will help you at least get a handle on your cycles and such... I hope it happens soon for you!
