Megan..........yeah, I asked my RE about whether or not Met would help prevent miscarriage when we met with her a couple of months ago and she said that getting out and walking every day would do the same thing to my metabolism and insulin levels that Met would. But she told me she could call in a prescription for me anytime I wanted to try it, so I'm thinking I might take her up on that. I'm not sure if I want to take more meds or not, but I guess it can't hurt to try. I've asked about it on a PCOS forum I go to sometimes, though, and it seems a lot of them have miscarried on Met so I don't think it probably matters all that much. We'll see. I'm going to ask what else I can do to try and prevent another miscarriage, but they don't start running tests to figure out what's going on until you lose three in a row, so I don't think they'll be able to say much. I'm guessing it's most likely because I have too much testosterone in my blood or something, but who really knows?

I am SO incredibly sorry. I know exactly how that feels. Ugh, I am sending you huge hugs and have been thinking about you a lot. I have been insanely busy at work, which is good because it keeps my mind of TTC, but I've been wanting to post and haven't had time! But I really believe in the power of prayer for lack of a better word because I don't formally pray, but I definately wish good things to people and I have been doing that with you.

I am glad that you seem to be handling it well, but we all understand the need to freak out and vent, cry etc. We are here! Smile

AFM, really nothing new in terms of fertility appointment stuff. Just in the 2ww wait now and I'm probably about 3 DPO. It luckily has been going by quick so far and I have to admit, I'm honestly hardly thinking about it. I know I'm in the 2ww but it doesn't feel like it. I'm hoping this is a good thing and if AF shows up I won't be as disappointed and also that I'll be less stressed so maybe this is the month I've been able to let go and then get that BFP. (probably not but positive thinking right!?)

Hi ladies... Seems like this is a pretty quiet topic now. I am heading down this same path now. I just got insurance so I am trying to get as much done asap. I just don't know where to start. Any recommendations? My cycle should come on today, didn't even bother to test because I'm not sure if I've been ovulating. So my dillema is that I wanted to schedule an appointment with my OBGYN for a "yearly" checkup and then get his recommendations. Or should I go ahead and schedule both. I don't want to miss out on this upcoming cycle if possible to start some testing. What should I do? I know that on cycle day 3 they typically want to do some blood work but since I haven't even started the process with a fertility specialists will they get me in and start testing that fast or should I give my OB a chance first... Any help would be assume.

How many months have you been ttc and what is your age? If it were me I would try to get into a fertility specialist as soon as you can. Since you would be a new patient it could take a little while to get in and in the mean time you could talk to your GYN about what he/she thinks and know that in the back of your mind you have this appt. If you have to wait months before you can get in then you could always mention it to your GYN to see if they could get you in sooner. Sometimes it works, but not always. An OB can do somethings such as prescribe clomid and such (and some places can do more) but if you are wanting to do an HSG and look more into being proactive about things you should probably seek the help of a fertility doc. Keep in mind though that all docs are different and some OB's may be able to do more indepth testing and such. My OB/GYN doesn't do more than that and she doesn't even prescribe clomid if you are oving so I had to go see a fertility doc. GL with everything!!

I'm 30 and we've been trying for 15 months. I think that I will call both in the morning and try to at least setup appointments. As of yet AF hasn't showed up, but I kno that the day isn't over.

Hi and Welcome! Your GYN should be able to do a couple of tests this month - like on CD21 to check that you O'd, if not (or even if you did) s/he might prescribe clomid. Your GYN should also be able to refer you for a hysterosalpingogram. It would be good to get that done soon while you have the insurance coverage. That was the route I took anyway, but I did see my RE for the first time yesterday and he said to stop taking clomid Puzzled I guess b/c I O by myself I don't need to be on it-? My plan for the month (once AF shows) is to have an internal U/S done to check for cysts/follicles etc, then check I did in fact O by myself without clomid.

GL and keep us posted!

Welcome to the site! I second (or third) what the other women suggested. I would go ahead and make the appointment, just to get the ball rolling and get you feeling like you are moving forward with your TTC plan. Sometimes it is a relief to get that first fertility appointment over with and have a plan in hand when you leave!

And... if you are interested, check out the TTC Buddies forum and let me know if you want me to add you to a group. It is a great way to stay connected and supported on your way to your BFP!
