Ok so my husband and I having been ttc for about 3 months now. Never had this problem before. I think I got prego on the first try every time until now. You ladies seem to give great advice, so here goes my question. When I was prego w/ my daughter coffee and the smell of it made me sick to my stomach. I never drunk it before in my life, but one of my coworker made me some one day after I had my daughter and I fell in love w/ it. I drink about 2 cups a day and I was wondering if the caffeine in the coffee or the coffee itself could be preventing me from getting prego. That's the only thing I've changed in the past 3 years. PLEASE HELP!!!

Good question. I am a coffee lover myself and although I have nothing to compare it to (I am TTC for #1) I did ask my MD what she thought. She said the studies on caffine interefering with fertility are inconclusive. I only drink one cup/day and she said that amount would not cause any problems. Maybe you can drop a cup? Good luck.

What I've read is that moderate consumption (2 cups a day or less) has not been linked to any problems, but caffeine is a vasoconstrictor so I would try to limit it as much as possible so you can maintain good blood flow to your uterus. If you're only drinking 2 cups a day I highly doubt that is really interfering with your efforts, but I would consider cutting back because it might be an issue. Brewed coffee has some of the highest levels of caffeine. I completely cut out caffeine during the 2ww only just in case Smile .

My doctor said that same thing as the ladies above. That all studies are inconclusive but it is wise to only drink it in moderate consumption. My doctor told me to limit all caffeine intake to two cups a day. That doesn't just include coffee she also told me all soda's and even chocolate to just cut back on. I got lucky on the chocolate part considering I think I am the only woman who can't stand it! Lol. Good Luck!!!!

I agree. Also, make sure you are well hydrated! I think caffeine (I could be confusing this info) may dehydrate you a little, so be sure that you get half your body weight in ounces of water per day. That's what my acupuncturist suggests anyhow...

Thanks for the comments I'll try to cut back and see what goes on. I was suppose to ov around the CD 18 but my chart said I ov on CD 13. Now I'm really concerned b/c haven't cut back. Is it possible to ov that soon?

I think another reason to back off the caffiene is because you should keep well hydrated for good quality fertile cervical mucus. Caffiene does dehydrate you so it's best just to cut back. Plus when you're PG you won't have to go cold turkey! Smile
