Hi ladies:
I've looked this up online but am looking for some "real life" input. How early before AF shows do you get "cramps" or other feelings in that area that tell you it's coming? Normally I don't really feel much, especially in the way of cramps until AF has arrived. A few cycles ago I started feeling cramps and sore pubic bone around 10 days before AF came and I got a little excited since it was different. But she showed up two days late. It's happening again - I started feeling that way around CD 21 and my cycles are 28 - 30 days. (I don't even know if I ovulated and my cycle feels so strange that DH and I are still BD'ing every other day.)
When i look online people say AF cramps start around 2 days before but I'd love to hear you experience. Does anybody get heavy breasts, possibly a funny feeling/pain in the pubic bone, more than a week before AF?

Alice,
I was trying to think back to what my periods are like, when I realized that in the past 5 years, I've only had about 10 periods, if that many, because I've either been PG or BFing my kids! (Even *I'm* a little shocked at that realization!) But, if I remember correctly, I usually only get cramps during AF. The cramping you felt 10 days before AF could have been Ov pains. I never used to feel them, but I have noticed that since having kids, I do feel some slight cramping around Ov time. Some women have said they actually feel implantation cramping, which would occur anywhere between 5-7 DPO.

Don't know that any of that helps, but it's one perspective. Smile

Hey Alice, sometimes I think us TTC'ers are just so much more attuned to what our bodies are doing now that we're actually paying attention that all those different twinges and pains can get our hopes up (or down). Ever since I've started trying, I've been feeling more "action" in my pelvic area and have yet to get a BFP. Last cycle I was sooo sure I was pg because I was feeling "different", but nope.... This time I'm feeling more cramping and I definitely felt my O pains that correlated with my +OPK at CD 18 and that felt like a round lump in my pelvis and cramping that intensified with movement and during BD it felt like DH was banging against that lump. Now I'm in my 2ww and I feel like I have mild AF-ish cramping that almost feels like I'm gonna have diarrhea or something (I know, gross). I'm 6 dpo and I am a self professed POAS-aholic and took a hpt and it was so negative, so I don't know what is going on, but I definitely feel like this process has resulted in some psychosomatic symptoms for me. Anyhoo, to answer your actual question, I generally get AF cramps a day or two before she rears her ugly head and they intesify the night before the river floweth. I have read some people say that implantation feels like mild AF cramps. Have you done OPKs or charting to help determine if you are Ovulating or where you are at in your cycles? That would be the best way to pinpoint the source of your symptoms.

Honestly I had never noticed cramps of any sort *before* I started TTC. Generally I had the WORST sick/nausea feeling in my pelvic region (similar to the wet sick feeling you have before having very bad diarrhea ... only more intense) about 24 to 48 hours before AF was due. When I was younger, this feeling would last the whole seven days of my period and I would be anemic ... I missed a lot of school because of it. As I got older, the nausea dropped down to just the couple days before and maybe the first day of AF. After getting serious with TTC last year and really focusing on my body I noticed that I can have mild cramping about 24 hours prior to AF arriving. I have never experienced OV pain (to my knowledge ... if I do, I pass it off as gas cramping).

Thanks for your input. It's interesting to hear how different things can be for different people. I definitely agree with you, ablaze - sometimes we are paying so much attention to it.... I am also very cautious about getting excited when things feel different because I know all two well it doesn't often mean a BFP!
What I find funny (not haha funny....) is that the symptoms I have now I only ever had the one other time, a few cycles ago. Definitely early cramps and the distinctive sore pubic bone. We've been TTC for 9 cycles. Wait and see, of course, is the best thing! I just started to worry/feel preoccupied since it is happening again. But AF can throw ALL SORT of weird feelings/symptoms, imaginary or otherwise, our way. Of that I am certain!
(Oh, and ablaze, in answer to your question - and I have tried BBT charting and OPK - I stopped BBT charting a few months ago because everything happened predictably and I thought it might help me relax a little and not obsess every day. I use the sticks now, which work well for me except this month when I didn't get a positive and then ran out......so we are just winging it. But next cycle I've learned my lesson and will get back to charting!)

Well, I hope your symptoms are early pg and not AF, we need some good news around here. It's been a while since I've seen a new BFP announcement. I think that wait and see is probably the logical answer, but that would take patience, and I for one, don't have any!

My cramps usually come about 2-3 days before AF, but I've had them as early as 4 days before. Don't worry about them too much, though.........I also had cramps around the time AF was due when I got pregnant.
