Just wondering if it is bad for the pregnancy to get a head cold in the first trimester?
I don't seem to be too bad but my nose is either plugged or running and my head feels a bit congested. I just don't feel right and am hoping this won't put my pregnancy at risk.
Any info?

Actually a head cold is a pregnancy symptom so no, it won't do any harm to your pregnancy. If you develop a fever take Tylenol to bring it down though.

Yup stuffy nose is par for the course, I'm in the nose bleed phase which is no fun. Pretty much everytime I blow my nose or strain when using the bathroom, my nose bleeds. I talked to my OB about it today and she said that is is completely normal and that it usually goes hand-in-hand with bleeding gums.

Nicole - I've suggested it before to some others, but a Neti Pot is wonderful for congestion or runny noses. A lot of people are freaked out about it because you have to stick it in one nostril and let the drainage come out the other, but it is wonderful since there aren't a lot of drugs we can take. Even when I'm not pregnant I like to use it because a lot of drugs like Mucinex dry me out too much and then all I do is cough. I use it several times a week to clear out my sinuses. It's a salt water mix so it's perfectly fine for pg ladies. You should be able to find it at any drug store or Wal-Mart. I'm telling you....IT'S WONDERFUL!!

I've got major runny nose and I sneeze more frequently because of it. Sometimes I wake up with a tickle in my throat because of post-nasal drip.

The other weird thing is that now when I wake up, I have a weird taste in my mouth. I thought maybe it was the prenatal vitamins--but this has just been since I've been PG. I am thinking maybe it's the extra saliva (which has been a wicked obvious symptom for me) drying out over the course of the night (I am a mouth breather). Anyone else notice this?

My stuffed nose is gone. Yay. Other than that time I have had no problems with it. Kristen I think the taste is the metallic taste which is a classic preg symptom. I didn't ever have it but check it out on the web. I do have a bit more post nasal drip and maybe sneeze a teeny bit more than I used to. Nothing too drastic.
