QUESTION!!! PLEASE HELP!

I'm getting so frustrated with my period.  It seems to be on a regular cycle but I don't understand it.  When I first get my period, it is very very light spotting.  I hardly need a pad or anything because it's so little.  This lightness lasts for about 2 full days and then my period gets super super heavy for about 3 full days.  After this, it gets light again for another 2 before it's finally over.  This has been the same for a very long time.  Now my question is, for calculating my peak ovulation time, do I count the beginning of my period right from the very first sign of blood on the light days?  Or would I calculate it from when the bleeding gets heavier?  My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a few months now, but I just can't seem to calculate my ovulation properly.  Please help!

I have always been told to start counting when you have a "flow." The first 2 days of spotting would not be counted. But you would continue counting until the bleeding stops. At least that is what I have always been told by GYN and also read online. Hope this helps!!!

I chart BBT on Fertility Friend and they always wait to give me a new chart until I record something heavier than spotting, so I would assume that you don't begin a new chart until you start to bleed enough to need pads or tampons.

becks,
I've heard the same thing as Kim and Katie. You might also want to try OPKs and charting BBTs to help nail down your Ov and fertile days....might save you months of frustration. Puzzled

you start counting day 1 as your first days of full flow your spotting days do not count.
