I am 41 and TTC. I realize it will take time but have been a little nervous about TTC at this late age. I talked to my doctor and he said just have sex every other day and come back in 6 months. No other advice given except to stop researching stuff on the internet. Now I didn't get my period this month and am worried my hormones may be out of whack aftere coming off the pill. And if I wait 6 months I'll be even older. So should I see a fertility specialist now or wait a while?

Seems to me your doctor isn't nearly as smart as the ladies on this forum! Wink There is a LOT you can do in the six months besides BD every other day. For instance, start charting your BBTs, use an OPK, monitor your CM....these are all things that you can do at home, fairly easily and cheaply, that will give you an EXTREMELY accurate idea of what is going on with you. At the very least, you will know with absolute certainty whether or not you are Oving, which we all know is KEY to getting PG. I'll let some other gals give you some input, too.

BTW, why did he tell you to STOP researching stuff on the internet?!?!?!?!?! If you use reliable sites with good info (like this one and www.fertilityfriend.com, to name just 2), then what's the problem?!?!? I don't think I like your doctor! Stare

I started doing all the things you suggested so I guess it will help me figure things out. My doctor new I was getting wigged out and told me to forget the statistics and stop reading about age and fertility. But isn't knowlege power?

OK, I guess I can see his point, but researching TTC methods, tools, products, etc is a good thing. And to quote the old GI Joe cartoon (one of MY favs), "Knowing is half the battle!"
