Hello there Purplecow4:
My name is Adrensmom and I'm 42yrs old and have a 27mth old son named, Adren. I delivered him 2 months and 23 days after my fourtieth birthday and he was carried to term. I was induced 2 days prior to the day that the doctor scheduled because the baby had not gained any week durning the last week of my pregnancy.........
I've been pregnant, a total of 3 times this year, have had 3 M/C's, and 3 D&C's. I recently lost a baby on the sixth of this month and was 7wks and 4 days along when the baby's heartrate stopped. It had only been 4 days since I first heard his or her heartbeat and the baby was lost.
I was exactly 7wks when it was first heard and was told that the heartbeat was slow and that the pregnancy would probably end, soon... I didn't know I was pregnant in January when I had a Colonoscopy, Upper Endoscopy, and my yearly Mammogram, which, I believe caused my M/C.
Since, it was my first one and the doctor's says every woman, once in her life, will at least have one. So, testing the embryo wasn't an option for me until I had two and the results from the one in July was Chrosomal issues. I had a D&C, 2 wks ago tomorrow and will not get the results back from the genetic testing of the embryo until another month. At that point, I'll be seen in Genetics Counseling and will find out the exact percentage of any chance I have of carrying to term, since I'm able to get pregnant..... I pray that things work out for the best for you and DH and that you become a mom soon..... You wished lots of BD......

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear all of the trouble you've had. You know, I truly believe that not all of our eggs are "bad". There are some good ones in there - we just have to ovulate those. The reality is that there are women out there, our age, and even older, who do conceive naturally and carry healthy babies to term. Keep the faith. I just got my period yesterday afternoon so once again, not pregnant. I'm having bloodwork again on day 3 of my cycle and I'm scheduled for a hysterosalpingogram this coming monday. Some days I feel like I'm just going through the motions while my doctor takes my money but I'm not giving up yet. I have never had a miscarriage but I also haven't gotten pregnant. There's a good chance that I have endometriosis since I have very painful periods (which I've had all of my life, much worse when I was a teenager) and my flow has really increased over the last year or so. Are you seeing an acupuncturist and doing any chinese herbal medicine? I really believe in it (I just started working with an acupuncturist/herbalist 2 weeks ago). I hope you get some encouraging news soon. I wish you lots of BD!!

Hi Purplecow4:
In my post to you yesterday, I forget to mention to you that I have been married for nine years. My DH just turned 39 a month ago and DS was 27months on the twentyfifth of this month. Also, I wanted you to know that purple, along with orange are my two favorite colors. How are you doing today? I can tell you from own personal experience that your days will get better, but, it may take a little time!
I'm so glad that I responded to your post, because, now I have a new TTC buddy........
It's nice having someone to talk to who understands what I'm going through TTC, after 40. I remember that after my second M/C and the test results had came back, I was scheduled an appt with a fertility specialist. Her expert advice to me was that my eggs wasn't as fresh and young as they use to be. Also, she claimed that most women our age and older, that were having babies, was due to the fact that they have frozen their eggs........ I don't believe that to be the truth, because, a lot of them get pregnant naturally... I'm praying that things take a turn for the better for you! I can honestly say that I believe that you're doing everything humanly possible to ensure that you get pregnant and also have a healthy pregnancy. I have faith that it's possible for you and DH.... Me, I have not tried acupuncture or a herbalist. If I knew then what I know now, after my second M/C in July, I would have giving my body a whole 3 months that it needed to recover from the shock of yet another lost.... I'm wishing you lots of luck with your bloodwork tomorrow and your procedure on Monday. Good luck to you. you're wished lots of BD........

Thank you for your reply. The name "purplecow" came from a purple cow my grandmother gave me when I was a child and the cow's name was Elsie. It was one of those silly things where the head bobs up and down. Silly thing but a warm memory. Have you considered working with an acupuncturist and an herbalist since you haven't tried it yet? The acupuncture is very relaxing, a little uncomfortable, but nice. It might help. I've only just started but some people really are convinced that it helps. Studies have shown that acupuncture works so give it a try!!! I'm glad we've connected. I'll let you know what happens on monday. Have you had one of these HSGs? Supposedly they're pretty uncomfortable. Have you talked with your doctor about unexplained fertility after having giving birth? Apparently its quite common and can be overcome. I'm going to keep thinking positively for you!!

Hello there Purplecow4:
Since I'm a Stay at Home Mom, I'll need to call our health insurance company to find out if they cover those two services? I don't believe any one of them will make things worse and I've always wanted to try acupuncture. I got injured at a job a few years back when I worked in the Medical Records dept and had to have a EMG. I believe that's similar to acupuncture, because durning the procedure the doctor stuck tiny needles along my neck and wrist area. It was a little uncomfortable, but, bearable and afterwards, I was in pain and my neck was slightly swollen. I'm scheduled for a follow-up appt with my OB/GYN doctor this coming Monday, also. She'll check to find out how my body has tolerated, yet, another D&C? My HCG levels should have dropped at least half, if not all, the way back done to zero by now. Hopefully, she will have bloodwork done, so, I'll know for sure. My appt will be scheduled then for Genetics Counseling, which should tell me everything I need to know. I've heard of an HSG, but don't exactly remember what is stands for or is? Can you explain it some to me? When and if my son goes down for a nap this afternoon, I'll check also on Web Md. I would like to ask my doctor about that procedure and why after giving birth now I'm not able to carry a baby past eight weeks? If she can't answer these questions, I know that they will get answered at my Genetics Counseling appt..... I want to thank-you for all the info......... These are things that my previous doctor should have dicussed with me after my second M/C on June twentyninth. I'm glad that durning my last pregnancy, I decided to change doctors......... My new doctor seems to be more compassionate than the last one........ Who knows maybe she's also wiser? I will check in later today with you.... On Monday, I'll check in that night after DS goes to sleep and let you know, what, if anything, I've found out from my doctor? Take care of yourself and I pray that you receive good news on Monday........... I will keep you in my prayers........ BD, BD, and more BD to you.......... Tee

Hi!

Well, HSG stands for hysterosalpingogram and that is a radiology studey where they inject dye (contrast material) into your uterus and then it goes out through your fallopian tubes. It's used to see if your fallopian tubes are blocked which can be preventing pregnancy. Interestingly, after an HSG, there are increased rates of conception in some women because it "clears the tubes out". It can be uncomfortable. The EMG you mentioned you had is a neurologic test that tests conductance along your nerves and can diagnose if you have nerve damage. It's definitely not acupuncture, although acupuncture can be a little uncomfortable, at least it is for me. Most insurance policies will cover acupuncture so its worth looking into. I hope you find out info from your doctor that is treatable and I'm hoping for good news for you. Lots and lots of BD to you!!!

Good luck to both of you, I am 39 and will be 40 in august. I am TTC and i have been married 5 yrs but with my husband for 8 yrs. We do not have any children together. I have had a difficult journey though. When I met him my tubes were tied, in January 2009 I paid to have them reversed but found out that only one was opened. For months we were TTC but couldnt, they put me on clomid, I was ovulating but nothing was happening. I had a HSG to find out about my tube, found out that it was blocked. The doctor told me that a fibroid was blocking my tube and my only hope was IVF. I didnt want to go that route nor wanted to believe what they were telling me. Went to a Interventional Radiologist who performed another HSG but did a tubal cannulization and found out that my tube was blocked with mucus. That was in September and now it is back to the drawing board.

I am hoping for some success this month. I am due to get AF on the 8th so I am hoping that there is a little sticky bean. I checked my temp this morning and it was 98.2, the other days it has been 98.6. So I dont know what is going on but I will continue my journey. Good luck to us all!

Hello Wisdom:
I have been following you on your TTC posts and all your signs do sound very promising....
I do believe that this is your month and we'll keep you in my prayers for exactly that.........
Me, I'm 42yrs, have been married for nine years, and have a 27 month old son named Adren.
This past year has been very hard on me ad DH. I've had three M/C's and also had 3 D&C's, the last one on the fourteenth of last month..... After my follow-up appt yesterday, I'm still very confused as to why after having DS at fourty and continually being able to get pregnant, I'm now not able to carry past the eight week point? Since, the doctors say that most women wil have at least one M/C in their lifetime, so that's the reason that testing is not an available option after your first one. Testing on the embryo in July confirmed that my M/C was due to chrosomal issues......
Hopefully by the nineteenth, the day that my appt is scheduled with the Genetics Counselor, all the results will be in, were as they take 5-6wks to be completed. At my appt the only two things the doctor said to be was that my menstrual would start once my hormones levels got back down to zero, which happen in usually 4-8wks and two is that the first part of the testing was done, which confirmed that it was pregnancy tissue that was removed from me, which I already knew..... She had to check the position of my uterus and everything was normal... So until that date, I'll pray that my chances of giving DS a little brother or sister are still possible. Please let me know the outcome of your next HPT. Good luck, Girlfriend......

I didn't find out one dam thing that I wasn't already aware of.... Only the first stage of testing had be completed and determined , what we already knew to be true, that pregnancy tissue was actually removed from me. The doctor did order a urine test, since, no antibiotics were prescribed to me after the procedure for infections. Since I've been experiencing some mild stomah pain, she wanted to be positive that I do not have an infection now. The position of my uterus is back to normal. DH and I finally BD Saturday and Monday night after being told we needed to wait for 2wks after the D&C.. It was so nice reconnecting with him after our lost and we didn't have to worry about TTC......
Hopefully, I find out something useful at my appt with Genetics Counseling on the nineteenth. How did your appt go, are their any new developments? I'll check in on you this afternoon.... Take care of yourself and best of luck........
