Ok!  I am 6 weeks pg and I have gained 3 lbs.  I honestly have not been eating anymore than I usually do.  I was in weight loss mode before I conceived and I am still in the healthy eating state of mind.  I have actually been eating more fruits and veggies than I usually do.  But I have already gained 3 lbs.  I was running 2 miles about 3-4 times a week and I have been so tired lately that I have only been able to run 1/2 mile at night and then walk the rest of the way.  I don't know if that is it or not.  I heard that you show faster with your 2nd baby.  I am not really showing but I am more bloated.  My boobs are huge (wear 2 sports bras to run in)but I know I could not have gained 3 lbs in my boobs.  I am just soooo paranoid about a lot of weight gain.  I gained A LOT with my son and I was miserable.  I am trying so hard not to gain as much as I did last time around.
Is anyone else gaining this early?  Who has a baby bump?

Hi Kim,
I'm 11 weeks pregnant and according to my appointment the other day, i've gained 3lbs. My doctor said its pretty healthy weight. She said the ideal weight to be gained throughout the pregnancy is 40lbs. Atleast a pound every week. I am now currently at 123lbs and I honestly still eat as much as I did when I wasn't pregnant. Ofcourse, little snacks of crackers, yogurts, banana, etc every now and then.

Believe it or not, I am showing already- which made my doctor doubt my EDD. I have an IPS appointment on the 30th and she said I might be further along. Instead of due date in end of April 2010, might be end of March to beginning of April. She was surprised as I was so thin and had flat stomach a month before she saw me again, then 4 weeks after, I have a bump. And no, im not even bloated. Might be due to my smaller frame -- regardless, it looks good. Laughing out loud

Wow, I hope I get a bump like that soon!! As for me so far, I have LOST 3 lbs! Being nauseous all of the time, and actually sick occasionally has really halted my appetite. My dr said it is fine, and not to worry, but I am really trying to stuff myself when I have the rare day of feeling good. Hopefully my m/s will end soon, and I can work on my bump! Smile

Markelle...that bump will come soon enough and when it's too big and uncomfortable we will all wish it was small again Tongue AFM...I haven't really been nauseous at all and I've gained 3 lbs already. Since I am overweight I am not trying to gain too much. I am hoping to keep it to 20lbs total or there abouts. I haven't gotten any number from my OB yet. I am really trying to eat healthy so I think that is helping me not gain too much. They say that you're really not supposed to gain the majority of your weight until the second and third trimesters as the baby's needs are relatively small at this stage.

Ok, I just feel worse now. Obviously it is way too early for me to gain weight. I was so exhausted last night when I got home and just wanted to go to bed. But I went out to dinner with my family (even though I ate healthy) I felt huge when I got home so I ran a mile and then collapsed into the bed and slept for 10 hrs. I guess I am just going to have to make myself exercise even when I am tired. Even my family asked me last night at dinner after I told them I was pregnant If I thought I would get as big this time around (nice). I guess I will check with my Dr at my appt in 2 weeks. But I was 120lbs when I got pregnant with DS and gained about 60lbs. I lost all but 15 lbs of it and just can't lose it. I am 5'2" so any weight gain on me is very obvious. Now, I am getting off of here and popping in a Yoga DVD. Gotta get my fat butt moving!

Wow KIm, you're dedicated. With my 1st pregnancy I started at 143 and ended at 208! I cried when I passed the 200 mark I just couldn't believe it! I didn't start working out until after the first trimester as I was constantly sick, but after that I got really hard core and was either biking, walking inclines, or stair stepping for 45 mins in the morning and swimming in the evening after work. That of course ended up ending in the 3rd trimester, but i still continued to work out until about 3-4 weeks before I delivered, then I would just go on evening walks with the DH and the dog.

This time around I'm not planning on doing anything. 1) It's goign to be cold and I am 100% against cold weather...so why am I moving to Germany??? 2) I was in really good shape with my last pregnancy (I'm in the Army...) this time around I have different job so i sit for 12 hours a day behind a desk. I haven't worked out in a LONG time so i'm not going to go from 0-pushing myself too hard.

I've gained about 9lbs so far but 4lbs of that happened in the first couple of weeks, I've sort of evened out now. I was told in the 2nd trimester you should gain about 1lb/week. At my last appointment (14 weeks) I was right on track. So don't worry about a little extra in the begining, especially if you are used to being really active. I was weight lifting and doing yoga but stopped as soon as I expected I was pregnant and I think that is why I gained more in the begining. Now that I'm not as exhausted I'm going to start yoga class tonight. I have no idea how you are going out running..I could hardly walk around the block in my first trimester!

wishingonastar-I was slightly showing at 6 weeks and definately showing at 8 weeks check out the photobucket pics, I was about 124lbs at 4 weeks (when i found out I was pregnant). I'm 16 weeks now and at the point where it is hard to tell if I have a huge gut or am pregnant. I work on a college campus so I constantly get strange looks. I was joking with my sister the other day and said that I need to get a shirt that says "yes, I'm pregnant, its not from the beer!".

I'm at the breaking point of my largest jeans and am pretty sure that next week is the week I break out the maternity jeans Puzzled

Hey Stevan at least you get to go shopping for new clothes Smile
Over the weekend and these past 2 days I have been getting a lot more tired in the afternoon and I am dead tired by about 7:00-8:00 in the evening. I have a treadmill in my room, so I have been making myself get up a little bit earlier for work and I am running (sometimes walking) at least a mile before I get ready for work. I've noticed that I have more energy on the days that I exercise first thing. If I don't I haven't wanted to exercise at night. My DH has always thought that I was a bit of a freak over my weight (it is the whole number thing that gets to me). I haven't gained anymore weight and I am hoping to keep it that way till my appt next week. I really just need to get over the scale and the numbers and just try and stay healthy and active. Wink

kimmi-definately try not to focus on the numbers, you're going to gain weight and as long as you and your baby are healthy you'll be fine. I did buy a new pair of maternity jeans at a maternity store but that will be my one and only new purchase...way overpriced. I've been looking at 2nd-hand maternity and kid stores and have found some things. I was also able to find some regular clothes, just larger sizes at places like Old Navy, the fall styles seem to be the baby-doll type shirts which are perfect for a growing belly Smile

Yeah, maternity clothes are COMPLETELY over priced. Very Surprisingly I found my favorite maternity outfits at Target last time. The have some really cute stuff and you don't have to pay "Motherhood" prices.
