I had my first OB appt today. It was AWESOME. I really love my OB. She doesn't make me feel weird because I am a bit overweight and she didn't use the term "high risk" when talking to me (even though I AM due to my age) She made me feel like just an average pregnant lady. I loved it :-) As soon as I got there I signed in and the nurse behind the desk said congratulations to me. The nurse who took my blood said it as well as the doctor. It was SO nice to hear it from everyone!! I get called and first thing I gotta do... pee sample! Then the nurse took 6 vials of blood to screen for stuff. I can't wait to get the HCG level results. I haven't heard anything since I got my second beta level done last Wednesday. The doctor made my first U/S appt in 4 weeks. I will be 10 weeks then. I feel like that's sooooooo far away but I guess she knows best. More waiting... It seems like we are ALWAYS waiting for something!!! She told me if I felt anything like pain or bleeding to call and come in sooner. *crossing my fingers and praying* that that's not going to happen.
I asked her ALL sorts of questions...sex (yup okay as long as there is no pain) Exercise (yup just keep my heart rate below 140) Ab exercises (yup - just no lying on floor doing sit ups after 14 weeks) I showed her my pre-natal vitamin to make sure it was okay and she said it looks good. It has 800mcg of Folic acid and she recommends 1000 so as long as I eat bread I will get the remaining dose. I asked her about DHA too. I've read that it's good for brain development. I got some gummy DHA vitamins at Trader Joe's. She looked at them and said they were fine to take. We talked about food...she said I can have a can or two of tuna fish a week but no sushi or fish high in mercury like Tilefish (never heard of it) or swordfish or Kingfish (another one I've never heard of). She said not to worry about hot dogs or deli meat...as long as I don't live on them it's okay to have them occasionally - no need for steaming them and such. She said to cook meats throughly and stay away from unpasturized cheese (no imported stuff b/c it's not usually pasturized (I love blue cheese so I'm gonna have to find the stuff in packages - no more soft ones form the deli dept. It's only 8 months - I guess I won't die.
I am going for an U/S at my RE tomorrow. Looking forward to finally seeing what's going on down there. Hopefully it's all good *crosses fingers* I will keep you posted.

The wait is FINALLY over...we're going to have a little GIRL!

Nancy- Congrats!!!
I am so happy for you! I bet it is starting to feel more real now that you have had a Dr appt. It will feel even more real after the U/S. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with my son and I had my 1st Dr appt. I remember walking out of there like I had to go home and study for a test. The nurses and Dr gave me soooo much information that it was a little bit overwhelming. I was so afraid I was going to do something wrong.
I got the book, "What to Expect When You Are Expecting." That was my Bible for 9 mths. My pregnancy was a big fat surprise so I knew nothing about being pregnant. I should be a lot more prepared this time around (hopefully soon).

Congrats again! Update us on your U/S tomorrow! I am living vicariously through you pregnancy pals right now!

Nancy, I'm not goign to say it's going to happen, but I would prepare myself for get a big, confomfortable "dildo cam" put up you know where for your ultrasound instead of the traditional one you see on TV. It's hard for them to see the baby this early with an external ultrasound. Just a little warning to ya
let us know how it goes

Hey guys, so I cheated and kept my first OB appt that I had scheduled yesterday, bc I couldn't wait 3 weeks. So I went to the Dr. that everyone swore was horrible, but i actually really liked him. There was no ultra sound, but I really wasn't expecting one. He is going off the first day of my last af, so he says my e.d.d. is May 17, which I had May 16th according to my O date, so that isn't far off at all. I told him about my spotting incidents, and he put me on bed rest for 4 weeks till my next appt!!! He said since it was brown it was "old blood" but I really needed to take it easy, and stay off my feet. I was totally not expecting that! I am in school right now 3 days a week, and he said that I can go to school, but to take it easy, and no work, bc I do way too much running around and lifting in the ER where I work. Getting that news yesterday forced me to tell my parents because I go to a yoga class with my mom and sister every Wednesday night, and I obviously couldn't go to that. They were sooo excited! I really hope everything stays ok and the bed rest does the trick. I am so weary, but I am really trying to be positive. I go today for my second HCG count, so I hope it has risen appropriately. I took an HPT this morning, and the test line tuned bright pink as soon as the pee touched it, and it is twice as wide too. I'm sure my numbers are rising bc of that, I just hope it is enough, and that my taking it easy will be enough to keep everything healthy. So I go back in 4 weeks, and he said he will be doing a transvaginal u/s, so I will be able to see the baby's heartbeat. I can't wait. I am a nervous wreck being pregnant! Wish me luck!

Sorry to hear about the bed rest but it sounds like it is the best thing for you now. Try not to stress or worry too much (so much easier said than done...I know) but it is not good for your condition or your baby if you stress too much. Daydream about your baby and think positive/happy thoughts! Good Luck to you! And Congrats again!!!

I will be having my orientation the 23rd. Apparently I drive an hour and a half to go to a 4 hour class to explain to me things I might experience while pregnant (it's only been 13 months, I don't see why this is necessary) Then I get all my blood work and labs done, then I meet with a midwife. I get to meet with a doc 3 weeks after that....yay

Thanks everyone. That is exactly what I did, I got 3 different pregnancy books, and started reading them up to the week that I am pregnant. It has actually made me feel better, because it each of the books they say that bleeding or spotting in early pregnancy is not uncommon, and actually occurs in about 1 in 5 pregnancies. I already feel better!! I went today to get my second hcg level drawn, and should find out the results tomorrow. Stevan, I am so jealous that you are almost in your 2nd trimester! That is so awesome!!! I can't wait to be there. I think that is a big milestone, because they same the risk of having a m/c drops dramatically at 12 weeks. Hope all is well with everyone.

haha becuase I'm in the military and they do things in a really retarted manner.....The L&D is an a Navy Medical Centerand they make all the preggos go there for this orientation before they can been seen for care. I don't understand it and I'm way too tired typing this so hopefully it makes sense, if not let me know and i'll try and explain it tomorrow when my nuerons start transmitting again.

Hey guys,
). Now I just have to sit and wait until my next appt in 4 weeks!! Dang, that is going to take forever, oh well, at leas I can try not to be such a nervous wreck between now and then... Glad everyone is doing well, and Nancy, I am still soo excited for you!!!
So I just got off the phone with my drs office, and I got my hcg results: 575!! They went from 97 to 575 in 3 days! When I was making the call to get the results, I was telling myself, Ok, they said they should double every 2-3 days, so it should be at LEAST 200, so when I heard 575 I almost passed out! I am sooo relieved! Now I can rest easy knowing my little bean is growing like he should (cuz I just know it is a boy
