My name is Nancy and I turned 39 in June. My DH and I have been TTC #1 since Sept 08.  I got married  for the first time pretty late in life (35) and now I wish we had started as soon as we got married. DH is younger than I am (30) and I knew he wasn't ready back then. It's been almost a year now and still no BFP.  I guess I thought despite all the research, it would be easier. I have had all sorts of tests to check things..HSG (tubes all open), Day 3 bloodwork levels were good too. Hubby has had an SA and his "swimmers" are fine.  My periods are pretty regular and I ovulate every month. That's half the battle I guess. I check each month with OPK's and usually get a a positive line on CD 14 and CD 15. This month is my second on Clomid and we are hopeful that we will be able to do an IUI this month. Well that's my story in a nutshell. Tell me yours...

Nancy, may I ask if you ovulate regularly, why the doc put you on clomid? Was it because the follicles weren't big enough? Or did you not ovulate before clomid? I am confused on the reasons of using clomid and it maybe one of my ttc methods in the future so getting info now!! Smile

I ovulated regularly but I think I was put on Clomid was simply to produce more follicles. The past two cycles I have had three follicles instead of one. This would obviously up my chances slightly. This combined with my IUI this month should increase them even more. Won't know for almost 2 more weeks though...argh!! I would do some research on Clomid and find out other reasons for being put on it. It is also cheaper than injectables so it is usually the first thing prescribed. Hope that helps! Smile

Are you see RE? I was told one problem with Clomid is it thins lining making it difficult for implantation. I used Clomid for IVF - (mini IVF) but had to wait til next cycle after retreival, for transfer because of effect of Clomid on lining. Maybe something to ask about?

Hi All,
I just wanted to share that I had a tubal recanalization procedure yesterday and discovered that I had a mucus plug in my tube which was at the beginning of my tube. That was causing my infertility. I have only one working tube after my tubal reversal in january 09. After seeing two doctors who claimed they couldnt help me told me to see a R.E. That was the worst mistake ever. She had me undergo several tests which I didnt mind like egg quality and supply, my first HSG which showed the tubal blockage and a saline infusion sonogram to see the uterine cavity which looked great to carry a baby.

After the results from both the HSG and SIS she stated that my only option is IVF. I told her I have done several researching on tubal blockage and all i needed was an hysteroscopy or the tubal recanalization. She INSISTED that it was scar tissue and that my only chance of pregnancy was through IVF. At first i felt withdrawn and didnt want to try anymore but i went back to my GYN who referred me to the interventional radiologist who specializes in non-invasive procedures. It only took 4 days to get in and have the procedure and once he he saw the blockage, he said it was a mucus plug and then he used the dye and wire to push it and now there is spillage.

For those who are TTC like I am do not give up hope, do not just rely on your doctor, pray and rely on your intuition. My GYN prescribed me clomid 100mg to take on days 5-9 and today is my last pill. I am really excited and wanted to share this great news with you all as you all have shared with me.

If you wonder why you are not getting pregnant do not rely on your tests, go see an interventional radiologist who specializes in infertility and you will see results. I will post next week as I will be ovulating!

Hello. I am a married 37 year old mom of two - 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter. I had my tubes cut during my second delivery and have regretted that decision ever since. My husband and I tried IVF in 2006 and it was unsuccessful. Our insurance would not cover us because we selectively sterilized...so we needed to pay out of pocket. When IVF didn't work, we decided to gamble our funds on tubal repair so that we could try naturally from month to month. Our first try gave us an ectopic pregnancy. Had to be treated with methotrexate twice! We are trying again....found out our insurance will cover us for IVF now that we had my tubes repaired. If we are not pregnant this month, we'll be going the IVF route.

Sending you lots of baby dust~

I am 38 and I underwent a tubal reversal in Nov 08. I started ttc in Feb. of this year and had a bfp in June only to miscarry at 6 1/2 weeks in July. I am hoping for a bfp this month and I am schedueled to see a new doctor tomorrow. Since the m/c I have been really down in the dumps and I am sure that doesn't help my chances. I will see what the doctor says tomorrow and keep doing the baby dance on my fertile days. Baby dust to everyone.

Hi there, I'm Heather. I am 36...ok who am I kidding I will be 37 the second of March...so lets just say 37! I just got married last Sept and we just started TTC in Jan. I went off the pill (after 15+ years) in Oct. I just got the ovulation tests and my day way the 16 of my cycle in Jan and we tried on both the 15 and 16. I just got the pre-stages of what looks to be my period today. Sad so I went online and bought some more O tests and of got the Pre-lubricant (we were using KY and I found out that is not helpful). Any good ideas of herbal things I can by OC to help? I have been taking a pre-natal for about three months and have just heard I should also take Fish Oil? I would love some great news as I feel this could be a long journey. Thanks!

Hi hnrfla,
I am 41 and TTC for the first time. I am taking my prenatal with Folic acid, fish oil which is important for omega-3 fatty acids and DHA, and a vitamin B complex as a base. Then I take Vitex which is suppose to help regulate your hormones, CoQ10 which is suppose be a good antioxident and help older eggs, and evening primrose oil before ovulation, which helps with the eggwhite slippery stuff.
I just read somewhere that Royal Jelly is suppose to be good for TTC so I may add that. I am like a regular walking pharmacy!

Thanks Cara! I have added the Folic acid and B already and will try the evening primrose oil. Yup trying again this week...seems strange though because my Dec/Jan cycle was 30 days, then Jan/Feb was only 26? This means that I have only a 10 day luteal phase and I read this could be a bad sign? Also last time I ovulated on day 16 and this month it is today Day 18 and nothing so far.....?! Where is that egg?? Smile
This is all very confusing and there are so many sites to read and get advise from that it is all a big jumble. And I just barely started and because I am a facts and figures girl...I CAN"T STOP READING THEM ALL!! Help...I'm drowning in too much information.
