If I spotted on and off before a continual flow started which do I consider as the first day of my period? To be specific, I spotted one day, nothing for a couple of days, then spotted again, skipped a day, and then finally my flow started (about a week later than expected actually). I usually have a heavy flow with the exception of the first day being pretty light, but have never experienced it like this. I'm not sure how to chart it.

I am pretty sure you start counting the first day of your actual flow. But you could call your doctor to make sure!

Hi!
I will echo butterfly here, I was told that you count day 1 once you start flowing, not spotting.
FX for you!

I see this is an older post, but wanted to say I just spoke with my dr about a similar question (I started spotting yesterday and today is a more normal flow) so I knew what day I was on and when to start my clomid. Today counts as CD1 since it's a full flow.

everything i have read or heard is cd1 is first day of full, red flow. its normal to spot or have some brownish discharge the day or two b4 you get your period

spotting before your cycle could also be a sign of progesterone deficiency. fyi!

I would look into that for sure!!! YOu can usually get a script for prometrium (progesterone) to take in your 2ww and then if you get your BFP you take it for the first tri. I take it every 2ww just in case. Worth exploring as it could definitely be a factor!!!
