So I started the lupron shots Friday night. I'm so excited to be on my way! We were on vacation visiting DH parents when I started.

On our drive up, DH told.me I could tell his mom about us doing ivf. His parents don't know anything about our struggles with ttc, and before he was always against telling them, so this was.huge. All week I tried to think of how I could tell her. She makes quilts, and she was wanting me to pick out a pattern for her to make for us. I told her there was one that I had found on the internet and I showed it to her. It is a Hey Diddle Diddle baby quilt. So then that opened the door for.me to.tell her. It was a good bonding time for us. We don't get to spend much time with them as they live 12 hours away. She ordered the kit to make the quilt for us.

The first night after I started the shots was rough. I got up to go to the bathroom around 4 am and started feeling very dizzy. I fell twice while I was in the bathroom and bruised my tail bone. I.don't know if it was from the lupron or what. Will have to ask my FS when I go for.my 1st scan on Wed. I did have a glass of wine Friday evening, but I don't think that would react with the meds that way. I didn't sleep good after that, and when I woke up, found that my pj pants had a huge rip down one side. My MIL asked me if I was ok the next morning and I told her what happened. I was glad that I had told her about doing ivf. I have not had any more symptoms since then.

Based on counting Jan 14, the 1st day of stimming, as cd 1, EDD is Oct 20. October is a good month for us, since our anniversary is Oct 7. Sounds like a good month to have a baby. Smile

I had my first scan yesterday and everything looks great. There were 12-14 resting follies in one ovary, and 12 in the other. The nurse said my lining is a bit on the thick side so she said I would probably get AF. AF came today. I start my stimming shot, gonal-f tomorrow night. We received the shipment of meds on Thursday and whew! it sure is a lot!! My next scan is next Wed. Smile

I started Gonal-F tonight. I had extreme needle anxiety tonight. I have been giving myself.the shots for a week with no problem, so IDK why I'm having a hard.time now. I just sat there with the syringe poised above my belly and just couldn't do it. The longer I waited the worse it got; my hands got.all clammy and I started crying. Finally after about 40 minutes of this, I called DH, who was our in his man cave, and said, "I can't do this." He came in and gave me the shots. I think that's what were gonna do from now on.

Had another scan Wed. My lining is already starting to thicken up. In right ovary, there was a 12, 10, & 3 9 mm and 2-3 that were less than .8 mm. In the left, a 10, 9, and 3-4 less than .6 mm. They have upped my dose of Gonal-F from 112.5 to 150 units. My next scan is Sat morning. I was able to start giving myself the shots again. I find its easier if I out an ice cube on my belly first. Starting to have some twinges and little pains down there, and very bloated.

i received some news from my FS today that has me a little worried. I have a autoimmune disorder called ITP. Its where my body destroys platelets. Mine is very mild and I have never had to be treated for it, only monitoring every 6 months. I will have to be monitored very closely by my hematologist while I'm pg since platelets normally drop when you're pg.

So when I went for my scan and blood work on Wed, I had them do a CBC since the egg retrieval is next week. They like for platelets to be 50,000 for that. I thought, no problem, since mine normally stay between 60-80,000. Well, the FS called me at work today and said it was 39,000. So he called my hema, and I got a call from his office this afternoon. He's putting me on prednisone to try to get my platelets back up and wants to see me on Mon. Oh, platelets, why must you misbehave now?

I suspect that the doxycycline, which of course the FS prescribed, is the culprit. I do have to be very careful about what meds I take, as some of them lower/affect platelets in some way. I asked the nurse when I had orientation to check with the Dr and make sure it was ok for me to take because of my ITP. I'm kicking myself now for not checking with my hema. I just Googled "ITP Doxycycline" and sure enough, it causes low platelets. I asked the nurse from his office when I was on the phone with her, to ask him about that. Will try to call again tomorrow. Kind of stupid to have to be taking one more drug because of a reaction from another drug that could have been avoided.

Retrieval is estimated for the 25th, but could end up being a little later in the week. I hope we can get the platelets up by then.
