Fertility Supplements: A New Era in Infertility Therapy

In every field of medicine, nutritional supplementation has come to play a central role in our daily health regimen. Now more than ever, nutritional supplements have taken center stage in the realms of fertility health and infertility therapy. Validated by science, new fertility-enhancing supplements are leading to dramatic increases in conception rates and providing a healthful alternative (or complement) to conventional infertility treatments.

Infertility affects more couples than you might suspect. Over 15% of couples in the U.S. report difficulties in conceiving a child. In a third of these cases, it is the man that faces fertility issues; in about another third, it is the woman; in another third, it is both the male and female that require fertility solutions. With tens of thousands of couples seeking support in their trying-to-conceive efforts, there’s no better time than the present for safe, herbal-nutritional innovations. Specifically, fertility supplements like FertilAid or Fertility Blend address nutritional deficiencies and provide fertility support in uniquely designed Women's and Men's formulas.

Science-Based Fertility Support (in a bottle)

Numerous recent studies validated the fertility enhancing potential of several nutritional and herbal ingredients. Herbs like vitex agnus castus (vitex, chasteberry) and the amino acid l-carnitine have been shown to enhance the reproductive health of women and men respectively. Clinical studies indicate that both of these ingredients optimize fertility and increase the chances of conceiving a baby.

For women who are trying to conceive, hormonal balance is important for regular ovulation, for the maturation of the ovarian follicle and the healthy development of reproductive tissues in the uterus (to prepare for implantation of the egg). For men, healthy sperm formation, sperm quality, and sperm motility are central to reproductive wellness and male fertility.

FertilAid

Combining the best of herbal science and western medicine, fertility supplements like FertilAid integrate key vitamins and minerals central to a healthy preconception with science-based herbal formulations that supports successful conception. With a long, safe history of usage, clinical data reveals that these nutritional ingredients are effective and successful in helping couples conceive.

How Fertility Supplements Work

Fertility Supplements for Women
In numerous clinical studies, vitex (chasteberry), a key ingredient in FertilAid for Women, has displayed enormous facility in relieving symptoms or addressing deficiencies associated with hormonal (estrogen/progesterone) imbalances. Vitex may be helpful for women who do not have regular or normal menstrual cycles and may be very supportive as well for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). In clinical trials, vitex has been demonstrated to enhance fertility - and women with fertility disorders benefited from vitex agnus castus, with more pregnancies then in various placebo groups.

Because vitex affects key hormones that regulate and balance the menstrual cycle, vitex can help balance the levels and ratios of hormones required for normal menstrual function, ovulation, and fertility. As vitex is safe, it may be used by women seeking to become pregnant to increase chances of conception. More specifically, it can be used by women with ovulatory dysfunction and by women with shorter luteal phases. Vitex may also be used after discontinuing use of birth control pills to restore normal ovulation.

Complete preconceptional vitamin support has also been shown to help enhance fertility as well. Vitamins C and E are important cleansing antioxidants that play a vital role in repairing damage caused by the environment, aging, and in preventing cellular damage due to oxidizing free radicals. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant central to overall reproductive health and wellness. In a preliminary human trial, infertile couples given vitamin E showed a significant increase in fertility. Other studies indicate that preconceptional vitamin supplementation can increase fertility. Folic acid supplementation is also essential to help prevent birth defects.

Vitex - in concert with other the herbal-nutritional ingredients in FertilAid – may promote the restoration and balance of hormones that play a central role in menstrual health and regular ovulation, supporting a woman’s reproductive organs and the development of reproductive tissues.

Fertility Supplements for Men
For men, reproductive wellness is supported by the amino acid l-carnitine and a potent array of antioxidants. L-carnitine plays a key role in the process of sperm formation, sperm maturation, and the maintenance of sperm quality. L-carnitine is particularly vital in both the development and maturation of sperm in the testes, in the development of the sperm membrane, and in the metabolic processes following ejaculation.

Healthy sperm are defined not just by count, but also by sperm motility and by healthy morphology (sperm shape and size and the integrity of sperm membrane). Sperm motility is determined by the percentage of sperm that are moving and qualified by the sperm’s capacity to "swim" in a sustained, forward direction. Healthy sperm motility is the critical attribute that allows sperm to sustain vitality and propel themselves through the uterus to the fallopian tube penetrate the surface of the ovum, and fertilize the egg.

L-carnitine plays a crucial role in sperm development and maturation in the male. Equally important, once the sperm is ejaculated, the sperm requires metabolic efficiency in processing fat and sugars into energy. Sperm motility refers in part to efficient sperm metabolism (the processing of fuel to energy). Sperm must exhibit the ability to metabolize energy effectively in order to swim from the vagina through the cervix, into the uterus and fallopian tube and fertilize the egg. L-carnitine plays a vital role in maintaining the sperm membrane and the metabolic processes that ensure sperm motility.

Grapeseed extract – a key ingredient in FertilAid for Men - is a vital antioxidant that scours damaging free-radicals from the body. Free radicals cause oxidative damage - a literal 'rusting' of tissues and cells. This damage can impact male reproductive function and disrupt fertility health. FertilAid for Men combats free radicals with a powerful antioxidant formula, including the scientifically-validated Grapeseed Extract, vitamin E, and vitamin C. Additionally, zinc and the B vitamins are critical to efficient hormone metabolism, sperm formation and sperm motility.

Evening the Odds: The Importance of Fertility Supplements

With couples trying to become pregnant at an older age than in past generations - and the stresses of daily life increasing - couples may need more support in their trying-to-conceive efforts. With 1-5 couples facing infertility issues, fertility supplements like FertilAid can help even the odds.

As part of an overall approach to preconception health, fertility supplements are formulated to help increase your chances of conceiving a baby - without prescription medications or the risk of multiple births. Science-based and backed by clinical research, nutritional supplementation ushers in a new era in infertility therapy and fertility support.

I am 35 years old and my husband is 30. We've been married over a year now and desparately want a baby. The problem is that we're both active duty Marines stationed apart. (NC & UT) Timing is EVERYTHING, so what methods of tracking ovulation would work best?
