Wow! The Impact of Second Hand Smoke

In a recent study conducted by scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center, they were able to link second hand smoke with increased fertility problems and miscarriages.

The researchers looked at data on 4,800 non-smoking women who were trying or had been trying to become pregnant. What they found was amazing!!!!!

What they discovered was that women who had been around second hand smoke for at least 6 hours a day for a period of time either as a child or an adult had a 68% greater chance of struggling with infertility and experiencing miscarriages. 68%!!!!!!!!!

Specifically, when they talked with the women, 4 out of every 5 of them spoke of being around second hand smoke sometime during their life. Many of the women, about 50% of them, grew up with parents that smoked and over 65% of them were currently in a situation where they were exposed to second hand smoke. 40% of these women had or were currently experiencing infertility related issues and/or had experienced miscarriages.

Wow! We have read many articles about smoke being unkind in the world of fertility, but this research really hits this point home!!!!!!!!!
