One of the biggest surprises I have had during my TTC (trying to conceive) journey had to do with when in my cycle I ovulated. Now granted, when we started trying to have a family, it was many, many moons ago. It was back in the day where you were told that you ovulated half way through your cycle, usually day 14.
With only that information, I spent many months believing that my most fertile day was 14 days into my cycle. It wasn’t until about 8 months later that I went in for blood tests and learned that I actually ovulated on day 9. Talk about changing everything!
At first I was so frustrated that we had wasted so much time planning around the wrong day each month. But after taking a deep breath and thinking about it, I was happy that I finally found out my true ovulation day so that we could move forward with our TTC plan.
Immediately after finding out how wrong I had been about my ovulation day, I started reading and researching everything I could get my hands on.
I started BBT testing, using ovulation strips and using an ovulation microscope. After not having any luck, I jumped in feet first and got an OvaCue Fertility Monitor; which I love! I love the week long lead time it gives you so that you can make the best out of your fertile time.
This road to accurately predicting my ovulation has been a rocky road with lots of ups and downs, that is for sure!!!
How about you? When do you ovulate? And….. were there any twists and turns along the way to figuring it out?
