Too Much Dairy Could Impact Male Fertility

We have seen plenty of studies lately that suggest that an additional serving of dairy may in fact help women become pregnant.  However, the same can not be said for their counterparts.

A recent study conducted by scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health has found that consuming more than 3 servings of dairy a day may in fact hinder male fertility. After testing the semen of 189 healthy men between the ages of 19-25, they found that those who ate more than 3 servings of dairy a day had a 25% greater chance of having unhealthy sperm in terms of its shape and movement.

The reasoning here is that dairy products have naturally occurring levels of the female hormone estrogen.  The excess estrogen can cause an imbalance of  male hormones and negatively impact overall sperm health.

Researchers recommend that men limit dairy, in addition to maintaining a healthy lifestyle so that their sperm health is in tip top shape as they try to start or add to their family.
