Tantric Color Meditation and TTC

If you have been TTC (trying to conceive) for awhile, you have probably found that there are some months or weeks or days or hours that are more stressful than others.  At times, trying to get pregnant can be all consuming and also completely frustrating and emotionally depleting. 

It is wonderful if you have an outlet for relieving the TTC stress or at least a way to slow down a bit and just breathe.  Some of my friends like to exercise or journal, whereas others schedule an appointment with their acupuncturist or get a massage.

If you are feeling like you are spiraling into a dark place, you may want to try and focus on your body's emotional energy and take a break from the negative thoughts that are running through your head. Meditiation is a great way to do that!

Here are the steps for a technique called Tantric Color Meditation…………..

 

  1. Sit on a chair with a straight back or on the floor in a cross legged position. The goal here is to have a straight spine and relaxed shoulders. 
  2. Then shut your eyes and think of the brilliant colors of the rainbow as they flow through you… red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.  Let the energy from each of the colors make their way through each part of your body.
  3. Next relax for a minute and let your whole body rest.
  4. Sit back up and using your abdomen, contract all the air out of your lungs.
  5. While focusing on your breathing, take a slow breath and fill up your lungs and abdomen again.  Hold your breath for seven seconds and focus on the color of violet flowing over your pelvic area and abdomen.  Then picture the violet color flow over the back of your head.
  6. Repeat this series of steps three times.

The reason for why this meditation/breathing exercise is so powerful for women who are TTC is twofold.  One reason is because it is important to be able to take a break from the stress associated with fertility and to let your body truly relax.  Secondly, scientists have found that the color violet actually stimulates the activity in the female reproductive area.

For the best results, many suggest practicing this particular meditation technique in front of a window or outside so that you can feel the sunlight on your body as well.
