Summer Time is Baby Making Time!

Did you know that vitamin D levels can impact fertility?

There have been a handful of studies over the years that have linked low vitamin D levels with fertility struggles.  Vitamin D is a making headlines again as researchers from Abu Dhabi get ready to share their findings with other fertility specialists at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology Conference this upcoming July.

In a recent study, researchers found that 93% of the women in their trial group were not only struggling with fertility, but were also deficient in vitamin D.  Doctors say that this is an important finding because it has the potential of reducing the number of unnecessary fertility related procedures, protocols and medications.  Getting pregnant may be as easy as just upping your vitamin D levels!

For women, vitamin D has been found to help with egg quality, regulation of sex hormones, endometriosis and PCOS.  It also has helped in positive IVF outcomes and with boosting the levels of progesterone and estrogen needed to maintain an embryo friendly environment.

For men, vitamin D helps the healthy development of the nucleus of the sperm cell.  This leads to better sperm quality and count.  In addition, vitamin D increases the levels of testosterone in the body, which helps with libido as well!

So, as summer approaches….. head out into the sun and/or check with your doctor to see if your vitamin D levels may be impacting your chances of becoming pregnant!
