Sperm Proteins

Scientists are getting closer to using the proteins in sperm to help with male infertility. This exciting new research can be seen in its entirety in the journal, Molecular and Cellular Proteomics.

The advances are related to the ability to identify the dysfunctional proteins in the sperm cells that are directly related to fertility/infertility. Being able to identify these proteins give the doctors a better chance of recommending the best possible fertility treatment that will give the quickest and outcome…a baby!

Since there are over 2 million infertile couples in the U.S., researchers are optimistic that doctors will eventually be able to identify the specific sperm protein that is causing the infertility and then prescribe a medication to remedy the problem.

Wouldn’t this be wonderful!!!! :)
