The answer to this age old question is…… YES!
According to a recent study published in the journal, Environmental Health Perspectives, there is a male measurement that is believed to impact fertility. It isn’t the body part that immediately comes to mind though.
It turns out that the measurement of a man’s AGD (anogenital distance) is related to his sperm count. AGD is the distance from the underside of the scrotum to the anus; and the magic length for this area should be at least 2 inches for the sperm counts to be at fertility friendly levels. In fact, the most recent study found that if the AGD is less than 2 inches, there is a 7 times greater chance of suffering from infertility.
The good part here, is that this might actually be the easiest and cheapest fertility test out there today! It is free and can be done in the privacy of your own home.
And with everything, just because a man has a short AGD, doesn’t mean that he will always have low sperm count. But, if you and your partner are struggling to get pregnant, it may be a quick and easy thing to check. If it turns out that his AGD is less than 2 inches long, then he may want to make an appointment with a fertility doctor for further testing.
