Laser Acupuncture

Do you know what increases your chance of a successful IVF embryo transfer by 15%?

The answer is laser acupuncture, according to Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut.  They just released the results to one of the largest studies looking at the link between acupuncture and IVF success.

In the study, 1000 women who were trying to become pregnant using IVF received one of five acupuncture related treatments. The treatments were administered 25 minutes before and after the embryo transfer during the IVF procedure.   During the “treatment times” the women received either traditional acupuncture, laser acupuncture, no acupuncture treatment (this was the placebo group, so they did believe they were receiving treatment), the use of a dimly lit room and soft music or no treatment at all.

What they found was that the use of laser acupuncture was most successful, increasing the chances of a successful embryo transfer by up to 15%.

Doctors believe that this is exciting news because not only does it help women using IVF become pregnant, but it does so without needles!  The procedure uses low-level light to help regulate the body in a painless way.  This technology is used to help women regulate their cycles, increase blood flow to the uterine lining and pelvic area and to reduce stress.  This is done by aiming the light at certain energy points on the body.

So, if you are using IVF to start or add to your family, you may want to ask your doctor about laser acupuncture!
