Could Your Digestive Track Be Linked To Your Infertility?

Why can't I get pregnant?????

You have visited the doctor and he/she has tested for some possible reasons:

Ovulation irregularity? Nope

Not able to pinpoint ovulation? Nope

Hormone imbalances? Nope

Thyroid issues? Nope

Endometriosis? Nope

Auto-immune problems? Nope

Differently shaped uterus? Nope

Male infertility issues? Nope

It can be so frustrating to walk away from what feels like a million tests and blood samples only to be given an "Unexplained Infertility" diagnosis. So I am always a little excited when I hear of another possible reason for struggling with infertility that a doctor can actually check for.

The new question that your doctor may explore while trying to solve your infertility mystery will be:

Have you ever suffered from a digestive or gastrointestinal disorder?

Basically, if you suffer from a disorder like irritable bowel, Crohn's disease or Celiac disease there is a good chance that it is getting in the way of you becoming pregnant. These disorders mess with hormone levels, blood levels and the body's ability to absorb important nutrients from food. All three of these are essential in the body's ability to conceive and maintain a healthy pregnancy.

So, if you are struggling to get pregnant and have suffered from any sort of digestive disorder currently or in the past, you may want to talk with your doctor about if it could be keeping you from your dream of motherhood!
