Have you ever gotten a BFP (big fat positive) one day only to get a BFN (big fat negative) not but a day or two later? You may have even gotten a BFP and then a few days later gotten your period. It is an emotional roller coaster that can make you completely frustrated with the TTC (trying to conceive) journey.
It is one of the down sides to the early detection pregnancy tests that are on the market today. It is wonderful to find out that you are pregnant as early as possible, but it is also possible to receive a heartbreaking false positive.
One of the reasons for a false positive is what doctors call a chemical pregnancy. A chemical pregnancy is when the fertilized eggs attempts to attach or implant into the uterus, but for some reason the process is never completed and ends up as a late period instead.
Doctors believe that 70 percent of all pregnancies end up as chemical pregnancies. But unless you test early, most women never even know they have had one. The only real symptoms to look for are a BFP followed by a BFN followed by a period that is a few days or even a week late.
The silver lining on a chemical pregnancy is that because it is a natural part of the TTC cycle, there is no reason to wait in trying to conceive after one has occurred. The body is good to go the very next monthly cycle!

Hello,
I'm having a strange pregnancy (maybe) issue and wonder if anyone else has had the same?? I was a day late and took a pregancy test (hCG test strip) and it was negative. I waited 48 hours and took another test using Clearblue (from the drug store) - it was positive!! So just to be sure, I waited another 48 hours and used another hCG test strip - and it was barely positive, a very faint line.
So I'm confused! I thought the early pregnancy test strips were the most sensitive on the market, but they aren't working for me! Or now I'm thinking....is there something wrong?? I've had another healthly pregnancy, and I do feel a little different this time...breasts aren't as sore, no morning sickness at all....
I can't see my doctor for a few days, so in the mean time does anyone have any advice for me?
