Unexplained infertility? Celiac disease may be to blame.
What is celiac disease? It is a hereditary condition where the lining of the small intestine is damaged because of a reaction to eating gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley and for folks who suffer from celiac disease, can make it hard for the intestine to absorb nutrients in a normal way. If this problem with nutrient absorption is not diagnosed it can lead to infertility, miscarriage and early menopause.
If you are experiencing problems with fertility, you may want to check with your doctor and have them check for celiac disease.
There is also a new at-home test that is available in Canada called the Biocard Celiac Test Kit. It just involves a fingertip blood sample. If this product is of interest, you can find out more on their website http://www.celiachometest.com/.
